The motor is officially out! I also removed the brake master, pedal box, steering, and steering rack. I spent a lot of time cleaning up the steering rack. There was an oil leak around the filter, and it lead oil all over everything on the passenger side of the car.

Lots accomplished in the last week.
Most of the front end is removed according to the donor disassemble manual:
All that is left on the front is unhooking the transmission and pulling the motor then the steering rack I have the rear brakes and both sway bars removed as well.
I hope to have the engine pulled Saturday morning.
Currently delivery is less than a month away for the 818R, the week if July 13th!

WRX teardown Part 1
I started tearing down the WRX after getting it off the trailer and backed into the garage.
I was able to get most of the front clip off, and discovered my first challenge. the drivers side timing belt cover was broke, and looked like it had been that way for quite a while. The car did sustain another accident before the total, as the drivers side crush bumper had been repaired. My hope is that this is not too damaging, and the engine is still in good shape. It does start right up ,and had great power the few minuted I drove it around the neighborhood.
Pictures of the Donor I bought. 2007 WRX with 70K miles. $3315 from Copart! Love that company. I highly recommend http://www.jlautobrokers.com if you are looking to buy a salvage. It was an easy and almost painless process. they even bid on the car for me because I could not. I picked it up 3 days later in Orlando, and was in and out of the lot in 30 minutes! The loader operator even dropped it righ on my trailer!
I did get it running, and it runs fine! I am getting it into the garage today so I can start disassembling it and sell off parts I don’t need.
Front end damage but the radiator and lights are not damaged

Other than the fire department cutting the cables to the battery, everything is intact!

No repairing this unibody. Front and back glass was shot.
